Slavery is not a joke...Racism isn't a joke either...

Wow...Beloved was something all right... After reading all these horrible experiences the characters had, something has truck to me. Slavery is really wrong... I learned about slavery in History class but I never really connect to them. In History class, we learned about people getting lynched by the KKK and it really connects to the Beloved. I don't think the other people understand the main point of slavery. To the former slaves, slavery was the worst thing that happened to them. To the ordinary people that know little about slavery, it doesn't matter to them because it didn't happen to them. I wished I couldn't have learnt the word "racism" at all...

Back to Beloved... I really liked the book. I was expecting something huge in the final chapters because my hunch was that a main character was going to die but my hunch was totally wrong. Oops....My favourite chapter was the second to the last chapter. It felt really good knowing that Sethe finally thought of herself, not just her family. It’s ok to be selfless, but sometimes you have to think of yourself too. The last chapter was a little creepy because I imagined Beloved popping in and out, staring and waiting for Sethe and Denver in 124.
